Parents are responsible for helping set up and break down the book fair, assisting students in selecting books and assisting with cashiering duties.
Homerooms
Please check with individual homeroom teachers for ways to help. Primary grades usually need help with field trips and parent readers. Parents also may be needed to help with religious retreats. Parents also host the Halloween and Christmas parties, see the FSA section for more information.
FSA
Room Parents
A total of 4 parents are needed for each homeroom (2 for Halloween/2 for Christmas). Sign up sheets are
made available at the Parent Information Evening (PIE) in September. Parents are assigned on a first come, first serve basis. Special consideration is given to parents who were not assigned a homeroom the previous year. Parents are responsible for planning activities for the approximate 45 minute party.
Living Nativity
People are needed to assist with practices and to help out with costumes. The day of the performance a social will be held after the event. Individuals are also need to help with the refreshments.
Fall Family Fun Night
We need all the help we can get. Parents are responsible for setting up the cafeteria- 3-4 hours; cleaning up the cafeteria- 1-2 hours; working the event- 2 hours. During the event we need parents to sell instant bingos, raffle tickets, and food items. The more help we have in these areas, the better.
Lunch With Santa
A small group of parents are needed to assist the chairperson with set up, clean up and activities that take
place during the event.
Santa's Shop
We need approximately 25 parents for each of 4 (2.5 hour) time slots. Parents assist students with shopping
and wrapping gifts. This is a very easy event to volunteer at and it really helps you get in a holiday mood.
Santa's Raffle
Parents are needed to sell raffle tickets to the students for this Chinese auction. This is also a very easy way to help the FSA.
Book Swap/Resolution to Read
Volunteers are needed to help collect books and distribute tickets. Assistance will also be needed to set up and clean up for the event. During the book swap we will need a few people to help with snacks.
Bowling Parties
This is a simple way to get involved with the school. One volunteer is needed to produce the invitation flyer to school families to attend the event. The volunteer will also collect the reservations and money and send tickets home.
Easter Candy Sale
Ten to 12 parents are needed to help unload the candy order on delivery day (March). The orders
have already been presorted and boxed. Parents alphabetize and hand out orders.
Family Game Night
Someone is needed to invite families to attend (create flyer, put information in The INFO). Also, we will need volunteers to assist with set up, clean up and concessions.
School Picnic
Ten to 12 parents are needed to help set up, clean up and serve at the school picnic at Waldameer on the last day of school. If you have older students and are looking for a way to help without causing them undue embarrassment, this is for you.
Box Tops for Education
One parent is needed for each grade level to clip and count the box top collection on a monthly basis. This is
very easy. The boxtops come home with your student, you clip and count, then call the numbers in to the Box Tops Coordinator.
